Ashby

Ashby is a small market town close to the borders of Leicestershire and Derbyshire. Steeped in history, today’s Ashby holds an appeal for a wide range of tastes. Ashby’s timber framed buildings line the Market Street and the town boasts many independent retailers, including boutiques, delicatessens, artisan bakeries and a range of coffee shops, restaurants, pubs and takeaways.

Cycling and the National Forest

The Hicks Lodge Cycle centre is on the doorstep of Ashby Wells House. The cycle centre has 10 miles of off road trails, including some through woodlands. The trails include easy yellow and green trails which are suitable for walkers and bikers. There are also trails suitable for mountain bikes only. There is a café serving hot and cold food and you can hire bikes from the centre. Early in the morning you might see and/or hear the sounds of husky dogs mushing through the woods.
